MOLD FOUND IN BRAZOS CO. JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER

A portion of the R.J. Holmgreen Brazos County Juvenile Justice Center has been evacuated, after preliminary tests found a presence of mold.

County officials said in a release that employees expressed concerns to Juvenile Services Director Lina Ricketson. Tests were performed in 20 separate, random parts of the center, and four of those areas turned up positive for stachybotrys, a form of toxic black mold.

The affected areas have been temporarily closed off, and the county will now go back through to test the rest of the facility.

In the meantime, the county is proceeding with an abundance of caution until further testing can be done.  Juveniles, employees, and their families are being notified, but they will not be allowed back into the affected areas until remediation is completed.

The county will share the results of the completed tests, when they are available.  At this time, the primary concern is to protect the health and well-being of anyone in the affected areas.

Especially government entitiy buildings. We have experienced this in Brenham on more than one occasion. Would any of your professional followers know the answer? Surely, I am not the only person who is curious about this issue. Looking forward to hearing some answers.
