Nine area men have been arrested as part of an investigation into Brazos Valley cattle thefts.

The Burleson County thefts primarily occurred between November and February, in a corridor along FM 50 from south of FM 60 to the Clay area.

Thirty cattle were stolen, between Burleson, Brazos and Robertson counties.  Fifteen head were reported stolen in Burleson County.

Four men have been arrested and charged with the Burleson County thefts: 17-year old Eric Green, 21-year old Charles Manual, 24-year old Darian Manley and 65-year old Phillip Dever Jr.  All have been charged with felony theft of cattle.

Green, Manley and Dever remain in Burleson County Jail, while Manual was arrested in Brazos County and is currently free on bond.

Five others were also arrested and charged in the thefts in Robertson and Brazos counties.  All nine suspects are from the Hearne and Calvert areas.

Stolen equipment includes, trucks and trailers used to transport the cattle.

Special Ranger, Hal Dumas, says most of the cattle have been recovered, except for two black bull calves and five Limosin cows.

Dumas thanked livestock commissions in Caldwell and Giddings in aiding in the investigation.

The investigation included authorities from Burleson, Brazos and Robertson County Sheriff’s Offices; as well as police from Bryan, College Station and Calvert.

  1. They need to be sufficiently punished, none of this shock probation or slap on the wrist foolishness. It is very expensive to be in the cattle business with the cost of fencing, equipment, the cattle themselves. When prices are good, the ‘easy money’ guys come out and steal your hard earned dollars via livestock & equipment. .
