NAVASOTA ISD CONSIDERING ADOPTION OF NEW ANONYMOUS TIP LINE

The Navasota school district is looking into establishing an anonymous tip line.

At the board’s meeting last week, Grimes County Sheriff’s Investigator Kindale Pittman explained the P3 Campus software.

The software, available as a mobile app and through an online form, can be used to report possible school threats.

Earlier this week, rumors of a possible threat were made in the district, which turned out to be false.  Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick said the new system would allow the district to receive more information from each tip than its current SchoolMessenger Quick Tip system.  The new system would relay information to both law enforcement and school district staff.

Pittman said the software is already being used by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and several Grimes County school districts, like Iola, Anderson-Shiro, and Richards.  He said the Navasota Police Department is in the process of adopting the software.

The district would not have to pay to switch to the new software, as Grimes County Crime Stoppers intends to use state grant funds to purchase it.

There was no vote taken at the board’s meeting, but board members indicated their support of looking further into implementing the system.
