EARLY VOTING SEES INCREASED TURNOUT MONDAY

  

The sixth day of early voting for the City of Brenham and Blinn elections was the busiest day yet.

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel said Monday brought in 214 votes for the Blinn election, with 168 casting ballots in the Brenham election.  That brings the total casting ballots for Blinn to 1,084, and 880 for the Brenham election.

With about 9,400 registered voters in the City of Brenham, this represents less than 10 percent turnout so far for the city election.  With Blinn being county-wide, the turnout is less than 5 percent.

Today (Tuesday) is the last day of early voting at the Washington County Courthouse Annex, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Voters are encouraged to take advantage of early voting today in order to avoid possibly having to go to two different places to cast ballots.

Voters in the Burton School District may have to go to two places to vote early, as Burton ISD is having its early voting at the Burton Administration Office.

Voters in precincts 117, 121, 202, 311, 312, 316, 413, 418, and 419 may have to go to two places to cast ballots if they wait until Saturday.
