BLUE BELL CONSTRUCTION TOPS APRIL BUILDING PERMITS

  

New construction at Blue Bell Creameries made up over $14 million of April’s building permits for the City of Brenham.

Two permits were issued to Collier Construction for expansions to the Blue Bell fleet maintenance and pallet transfer facilities.  The permit for the fleet maintenance construction was for $10,736,002, while the pallet transfer construction was $3,413,170.

Blue Bell was granted a tax abatement by the city last October for its planned improvements, which they expect to have completed this August or September.

Another notable permit was issued to Brenham High School for $1.5 million, to demolish existing exterior stairways and replace them with interior stairs.

A total of 29 permits were issued in April worth $18,141,304.  Last April also had 29 permits issued, but at a much lower total of $1,482,741.

Just one residence permit was issued last month, for $86,580.  So far this year, 20 new residences have been permitted, for $2,705,930.

This year, 98 permits have been issued by the city for $26,288,333.  At this point last year, 92 permits were issued for $16,089,170.
