SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN HEADED THROUGH BRENHAM THURSDAY MORNING

The route runners will take Thursday morning through Brenham.

This (Thursday) morning, law enforcement officials from across the state will carry the Special Olympics torch through downtown Brenham.

This year’s route will pass by all of the downtown businesses on Main and Alamo Streets.  It will also take runners by First Baptist Day School and Brenham Early Childhood Learning Center.  The run should be in the downtown area around 9 a.m.

The run will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Brenham Fire Department, at 101 North Chappell Hill Street.  Runners will head west onto Sycamore Street across from the fire department, then take a right onto Cottonwood Street.

The runners will then take a left onto Pahl Street, heading to North Market and East Main Streets, then turning around at Austin Street.  At the turnaround, they will make a left onto West Alamo Street heading east, and make right turns onto Garrett, Kerr, Mangrum, and South Chappell Hill Streets before finishing back at the fire department.

The event is in preparation for the 50th Annual Special Olympics Texas’ Summer Games, taking place today through Sunday in San Antonio.
