TWO TORNADOES SPOTTED IN FAYETTE CO.

Fayette County law enforcement officials reported damage from a pair of possible tornadoes Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, local storm reports came in while a tornado warning was in place for damage to several industrial buildings on Highway 71 near La Grange.

The warning was issued for parts of central and northern Fayette County.  Doppler indicated a tornado formed southeast of Bastrop County in La Grange at 9 a.m.

Another possible touchdown was reported around 8:20 a.m. off Ehler-Grasshoff Road, about six miles northeast of Flatonia.  Forecasters said the tornado would have touched down between Muldoon and Schulenburg, near the center of the county.

Forecasters tracked the storm that produced the tornado as it moved to the northeast, toward the Fayette Regional Air Center Airport just west of La Grange.

Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Janet Carrigan said, while there is a lot of debris, no injuries have been reported.

Update @ 1:35 p.m.: According to a release, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received five different reports of tornadoes that touched down and caused damage in the areas they were reported.  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported the Sheriff’s Office also received reports of 12 vehicle crashes in the county during the weather event, with no major injuries.
