BRENHAM MAIFEST IN FULL SWING THIS WEEKEND

  

Maifest festivities conclude this weekend in Brenham in a grand showcase.

In addition to the planned activities at Fireman’s Park including German music, dancing, beer tasting and carnival rides, today (Saturday) will feature a pair of coronation ceremonies.

The Junior Coronation, pushed back from Thursday due to weather, is being held this morning at the ballpark at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to be in the outfield at 9:30 a.m.

The Senior Coronation will be held tonight at 8 p.m., with participants reporting to the outfield at 7:30 p.m. Junior Maifest participants will be able to celebrate in the Senior Maifest finale around 9:30 p.m. tonight, waving LED balloons and watching the fireworks finale.

Volunteers are asked to help changing sets in between the Junior and Senior Coronations. Anyone wishing to help is asked to report to left field for assignment after the Junior Coronation ends.

The Mighty Thomas Carnival is open from 11 a.m. to midnight, featuring games and rides for all ages. The home brew contest begins at 1 p.m., with beer tasting at 2 p.m. and the beer stein holding contest at 3 p.m.

Traditional Maipole dancers will take the stage at 6:15 p.m., with the Black Cat Choir performing from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The Maifest Parade, originally scheduled for this morning, will now be held tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 2 p.m.  Click here to view a lineup of Sunday's parade. 

Children can ride in the parade even if they are in church clothes and not in costume.  KWHI will have a live broadcast of the parade on AM 1280, FM 101.7, and kwhi.com.
