MAN CHARGED WITH AUSTIN CO. BURGLARY
A concerned citizen and quick work by deputies led to the arrest in Austin County of man on a burglary charge.
A caller notified 9-1-1 about a suspicious man on Stockold Road near Sealy, last Tuesday, going from house to house.
Moments later, deputies discovered 45-year old Heath Herring of Wallis in the front yard of home, claiming to be the owner.
However, deputies discovered a broken window and a chain saw that had been stolen from a storage shed. The saw had been used to cut through the front door of the home. A nearby travel trailer had also been damaged in an attempt to break in.
Herring was arrested and placed in the Austin County Jail for Burglary of a Habitation. He is being held on $50,000.00 bond.
Sheriff Jack Brandes commended the concerned citizen and the quick work of the deputies. Brandes stated. “It is important that neighbors all look after one another. “See Something---Say Something!”
