FORMER CALDWELL TEACHER CHARGED WITH CAUSING INJURY TO CHILD

Editor's Note 2/9/22: KWHI has removed Vestal's jail booking photo from the article, as he has been found not guilty of the charge.

Original Story 5/23/19: A former Caldwell ISD employee has been arrested on a child injury charge.

51-year-old Brad Vestal was arrested last week in connection to an incident on the Caldwell campus in March.  Vestal, the former alternative education director, is accused of dragging a student by the arm and pushing him out of a door.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Caldwell police, Vestal was seen on surveillance video dragging the student, grabbing the front of his shirt and pushing him out of the door.

Video shows the student falling backwards and hitting their upper back against an adjacent building.  The statement said the student walked around and was eventually picked up by a parent.

Following an investigation, Vestal resigned from the school district on March 27th.  He has been charged with recklessly causing bodily injury to a child 14-years old or younger.  He is now free on bond.

According to Caldwell ISD Superintendent Andy Peters, the district does not plan on replacing the administrator position at this time.
