LCRA TO AWARD LOCAL GRANTS
Three area organizations will be receiving community grants from the Lower Colorado River Authority.
Tuesday, LCRA officials will be handing out checks totaling nearly $40,000.
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will receive an $8,000 grant from LCRA and the City of Brenham at 11:15 a.m. at the chamberin Brenham. The grant will be used to purchase two air-conditioning units.
The Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $21,025 grant from LCRA and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative at 10:30 a.m. at the fire station. The grant will be used to purchase an all-terrain vehicle, trailer and equipment.
And, the Burton Independent School District will receive a $10,000 grant from LCRA and Bluebonnet at 1:30 p.m. at Burton Elementary School. The grant will be used to install a shade cover over the community playground at the elementary school.
The community grants are among a number of grants recently awarded through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program. The program is part of LCRA’s effort to give back to the communities it serves.
