JUDGE ERIC BERG SPEAKS AT MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE IN BRENHAM

  

Crowds gathered to show their appreciation for all Veterans at the annual Memorial Day program this (Monday) morning at the American Legion Hall in Brenham.

The program is held each Memorial Day in honor of fallen service members.

Washington County Court-at-Law Judge Eric Berg was the guest speaker at the program, who presented the history of Memorial Day along with his family’s history in the military. He talked about his grandfather and his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Air Force in the Pacific theater during World War II.

Berg recalled the impact his grandfather’s service had on him as a child, and how it shaped him into who he is now.

An emotional Berg called the audience to give their thanks to all the men and women who have given their lives serving their country.

Also addressing the crowd was Washington County Judge John Durrenberger, Brenham Mayor Milton Tate, Burton Mayor David Zajicek, and Betty McCarty of the office of Lois Kolkhorst.

Current and former members of the military were recognized throughout the program, which concluded with the playing of “Taps”, a moment of silence, and the folding of the American flag.

The Memorial Day program was presented by the combined Veterans’ organizations in Washington County.
