LOCAL JAIL PASSES LATEST INSPECTION
The Washington County Jail has passed its latest state inspection
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, a random jail inspection was performed last week by Texas Jail Commission Inspector William Pharis.
Pharis certified the jail as passing and within compliance of state law.
This inspection consisted of the analysis of paperwork efficiency, emergency operations, jail policy and procedure, jailer certifications, health services, cleanliness, sanitation procedures, staff security, religious practices, life safety, and numerous other topics.
Sheriff Hanak says, since he took office in 2013, the jail staff has worked tirelessly to bring the facility up to and exceed standards, as well as compliance with local jail policy and procedures.
The Washington County Jail has passed the random State inspection each year since 2013.
As with all 254 Texas county Sheriffs, jail operations are required by state law and all jails must meet rules and regulations set forth by the State and overseen by the Texas Jail Commission.
Sheriff Hanak commended the entire staff working in the Washington County Jail for their hard work, leadership, attention to detail, dedication, and professionalism over the past seven successful inspections.
