NEW 911 AUDIO RAISES QUESTIONS IN CHESTER JACKSON CASE
New questions have been raised about what happened to Chester Jackson, Jr., after a newly uncovered 911 call made from a psychiatric hospital in Austin.
After confirming Texas Rangers were conducting a criminal investigation into what happened to the 30-year-old Somerville man, Jackson’s attorney, U.A. Lewis, said the 911 call tape released Thursday contains “disturbing facts". The call on April 21st came just hours after Jackson was dropped off by Burleson County deputies at the hospital.
In the call between staff at Cross Creek Psychiatric Hospital and 911 operators in Austin, a hospital worker says Jackson “became agitated” and was given several sedative drugs, including 2 mg of Ativan, 10 mg of Haldol, and 50 mg of Benadryl. The worker also details how Jackson stopped breathing after being “put in a hold”.
Staff say in the call the AED device and CPR were used on Jackson while first responders came to the hospital. He was then rushed to St. David’s Medical Center in Austin and placed on life support.
This audio comes a day after a series of body camera videos were released by Jackson’s attorney, which show a timeline from his arrest near his home in Somerville on April 19th, to his release from the Burleson County Jail and admittance into Cross Creek Hospital a few days later.
One of the videos shows a Caldwell police officer in the jail appearing to push the handcuffed Jackson, who falls against a metal bed and hits his head on a toilet. An officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
A press conference will be held this (Friday) afternoon in front of Cross Creek Hospital.
