NEW BURLESON CO. JUDGE SELECTED
Burleson County Commissioners have named their newest County Judge.
Keith Schroeder was appointed to the position today (Wednesday). Schroeder was the Precinct 2 commissioner from 2011 to 2018.
Schroeder succeeds former County Judge Mike Sutherland, who resigned from his position Sunday as part of an agreement with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. The agreement signed by Sutherland earlier this month states the Commission received a pair of complaints accusing him of inappropriate conduct.
Requirements for the new County Judge were that the candidate must live in Burleson County, be at least 18-years-old, qualify for a $100,000 surety bond, and not have any unpaid debts to the county.
Schroeder will fill the position through next December.
If he serves through December 2019, does that mean there will be a special election in the Fall to elect the judge for the remainder of the term? Judge Sutherland had just been elected to a new 4 year term.
