“TUFF” NAMED PET OF THE WEEK; KITTENS REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

The Brenham Pet Adoption Center has named “Tuff” as its Pet of the Week.

Tuff is roughly three months old, and is believed to be a Doberman or Doberman mix.  He was in pretty rough shape when he was picked up by Brenham police officers, as he was full of parasites and a severe infection.  Staff say he almost didn’t make it, and he’s still not out of the woods.

Tuff was taken to the vet and put on antibiotics.  After a follow-up Friday, staff say he is improving, but still has at least another week of antibiotics and a special diet.  Due to the infection, he cannot be vaccinated, which puts him at a risk for distemper and parvo in a shelter environment.

The shelter does have space to keep Tuff isolated from other dogs, but his ideal situation would be to go to a foster home until he is completely healed and ready for adoption.  As such, he is not currently available for adoption.  However, anyone wishing to provide a foster home for Tuff can call Brenham Animal Services at 979-337-7351.

The shelter also has kittens available for adoption, including two Manx kittens.  Their litter started out as five that went to foster with their mom.  Three of the kittens have been adopted, but the two remaining kittens and their mother remain in foster.  Both have short hair, one is blue and the other is black.

If you would like to adopt a pet, or learn about becoming a foster, visit the Brenham Pet Adoption Center at 1804 Longwood Drive.
