A variance for a Brenham home in the Beacon Hill Subdivision was granted by Board of Adjustment members at their meeting Monday.

The board unanimously approved the variance request, which pertained to a single-family residence at 1807 Harrell Road, owned by Carmen and Martha Cruz.

The variance allows for a 43-foot lot width for their property, where a minimum 60-foot width is typically required.  In addition, a 5,160 square foot lot area will be allowed, where a minimum 7,000 square foot area is required.

Property to the north and west were recently purchased by Brenham Wholesale Grocery, who is working on rezoning the property to develop a convenience store.

The property will need to be replatted, but Brenham Wholesale intends to include their tracts in the plat document as the company plats the adjacent tracts to the north and west.
