HUNTSVILLE MAN FACING FEDERAL IDENTITY THEFT, MISINFORMATION CHARGES

A Huntsville man was recently arrested by Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies on a pair of federal warrants.

Ronald Lindsey
(Grimes Co. Jail)

58-year-old Ronald Richard Lindsey faces charges of Aggravated Identity Theft and Making a False Statement in an Application for Passport.  Lindsey was taken into custody Sunday at a residence on State Highway 30 in Shiro for the warrants, issued by the U.S. Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

According to documents obtained through the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas—Lubbock Division, Lindsey was federally indicted last November.

Lindsey is accused of knowingly transferring, possessing, and using—without lawful authority—identification of another person in relation to a felony violation.  The indictment states Lindsey knew that the identification belonged to another actual person.

According to the indictment, Lindsey “willfully and knowingly made a materially false statement” while applying for a passport for his own use.  He is said to have falsely stated that his true and legal name was Buck Miles Harris, that he never used any other names, and that his date of birth was August 12th, 1958.

According to Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Assistant Lisa Bates, Lindsey was released to federal custody Monday.  Officials with the northern and southern Texas districts of the U.S. Attorney’s Office both confirmed he was on bond as of Thursday.  Officials said he will appear soon in northern district court.
