SENATOR TED CRUZ MAKES STOP FOR TREATS AT BLUE BELL

Blue Bell is no stranger to tourists, but Tuesday afternoon the Brenham plant had a visit from a noted political figure.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz stopped by Brenham in the midst of his statewide tour to take a tour of the creameries, while Congress is out of session.  The Republican senator made time to grab some scoops of ice cream and visit with families.

Cruz said he is having conversations with different business and community leaders to see what their main concerns are.

Cruz confessed one of his biggest guilty pleasures is Buttered Pecan ice cream.

Blue Bell currently employs around 750 employees at its Brenham plant, with plans for more as it completes expansions to its fleet maintenance and pallet transfer facilities.

In addition to Brenham, Cruz also made stops Tuesday in Temple and Waco.  He is planning trips today (Wednesday) to Houston, Beaumont, and Port Arthur.
