LABOR DAY GAS PRICES LOWEST SINCE 2016

  

Anyone in Texas heading out of town for the Labor Day holiday should enjoy some of the lowest average gas prices seen in years.

The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.29, four cents less than a week ago, and 30 cents less than at this time a year ago.  This is the cheapest gas prices have been on average statewide over Labor Day weekend since 2016, when the average price per gallon was $2.01.

In Brenham, the average price sits at $2.30, with a low of $2.14 and a high of $2.46.

Surveying the major metropolitan areas in Texas shows that drivers in Odessa are paying the most on average per gallon at $2.56, while drivers in McAllen are paying the least at $2.09.

Meanwhile, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.58.  That price is a penny less that this day last week, and 25 cents less than this day last year.
