BVCASA AWARDED $6 MILLION OVER FIVE YEARS IN STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS
The Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (BVCASA) has been awarded $6 million in state and federal funding.
BVCASA announced Tuesday that it will receive $1.2 million annually for five years, to support its efforts in preventing underage use of alcohol, tobacco and nicotine products, marijuana and other cannabinoids, and the misuse of prescription drugs.
For the first time in several years, BVCASA received funds to conduct evidence-based curriculum education in elementary, middle, and high schools across the seven counties it serves. The funding will also go to support BVCASA’s three community-based coalitions and its Prevention Resource Center.
BVCASA provides prevention, intervention, and treatment services to address substance abuse and addiction in the Brazos Valley. It serves Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties.
