LOCAL OFFICIALS TO PRESENT AT HOMELESSNESS CONFERENCE IN HOUSTON
Several Brenham and Washington County officials will be in Houston next month to present a workshop at an annual conference addressing homelessness.
The presentation, entitled “Mental Health Matters in Rural Texas – Connecting Communities to Care” will be given by Reverend Randy Wells and Dalia Vela of Faith Mission, Washington County Sheriff’s Captain Eric Hensley, and Brenham Police Mental Health Sergeant Steven Eilert.
Their conference will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, the second day of the Texas Homeless Network’s Conference on Ending Homelessness at the Omni Houston Hotel on Four Riverway. The presentation will begin at 10:15 a.m.
The panel will also include Dr. Carly McCord, Director of Texas A&M’s Telehealth Counseling Clinic, and Prairie View A&M intern Mia Wofford. The group of speakers will discuss the issue of mental and physical health and its impact on homelessness.
The Texas Conference on Ending Homelessness occurs annually in September or October, and changes location each year. It has become a forum for homeless service providers, educators, community leaders, and government officials to network and learn how to build systems to fight homelessness.
