BELLVILLE JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT APPREHENDED AFTER ALLEGED THREAT

A Bellville Junior High School student was placed in juvenile detention last week after allegedly making a threat.

Bellville police and school administrators reported that the student was apprehended after making a comment last Wednesday about using a gun at the junior high school.

Police took the student into custody at the student’s home Thursday.  The student was not on campus that day, and reports say no weapons were found on campus.

The student was charged with Terroristic Threat, a third degree felony, and ordered by a court to be taken to a juvenile detention center in Fort Bend County.

A statement by Bellville ISD Superintendent Nicole Poenitzsch said all comments of a threatening nature are taken seriously, and threat assessments and response procedures are in place.

Poenitzsch said the district will continue its full investigation, and will have additional law enforcement officers in place at the junior high school.  She added that additional administrative actions will be taken to resolve the concern, once the investigation has concluded.
