WOUNDED FAYETTE CO. DEPUTY HONORED BY GOVERNOR

A Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy has been honored by the Governor.

Dty. CJ Lehmann
(Fayette Co. Sheriff's Office)

Deputy C.J. Lehmann was one of 50 Emergency First Responders presented with the “Star of Texas Award” by Governor Greg Abbott.

Lehmann and the other recipients were honored September 11th at the State Capital.

Lehmann was severely injured in an operation with La Grange police last November, while attempting to serve a warrant on a wanted fugitive.  The suspect fired a shotgun, hitting Lehmann in the face and eyes, and leaving him with permanent blindness.  After a four-hour standoff, the suspect was taken into custody.

Lehmann was also recognized by State Representative Ben Leman, who presented him a resolution in recognition of his service.

LaGrange police Chief David Gilbreath submitted the application for the award, which was co-sponsored by the Fayette County Sheriff’s office.
