BLACK BRIDGE FESTIVAL AND MINI-MARATHON SET FOR DIME BOX THIS WEEKEND
The Dime Box community is getting ready to put on the annual Black Bridge Festival and 42nd Annual Mini-Marathon.
Activities get underway Friday in downtown Dime Box with a barbecue cook-off, music and street dance, and a free-will donation chili and potato soup dinner at 6 p.m. The Little Mr. and Miss Dime Box Pageant will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a domino tournament at 7 p.m.
Saturday’s events include music from CK the DJ Curtis Krause, barbecue, craft booths, a quilt show, and a performance from the La Grange Square Dance Club at 10:30 a.m. The Mini Marathon begins at 9 a.m., with awards at 11 a.m.
Saturday’s parade begins at 1 p.m., with performances from Briana Adams and Barney Sledge at 2:30 p.m. and a fundraising auction at 4 p.m.
No beer will be sold at the festival, but guests are allowed to bring their own beverages.
The festival is being hosted by the Dime Box Lions Club Foundation. Proceeds will go to the Black Bridge Initiative and into funds for Lions Club scholarships and projects.
