SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR BRENHAM, BURTON, DOWN FOR WASHINGTON CO.

  

Sales and tax distributions were up this month for Brenham and Burton, but slightly down for Washington County as a whole.

Washington County’s October rebate was $237,707, down 0.4 percent from last October, when it received $238,815.  So far this year, the county has received $2,660,349, an 8.2 percent increase from last year’s $2,458,339 over the same timeframe.

October’s rebate for Brenham was $544,234, compared to last October when the city received $535,958, an increase of 1.5 percent.  To this point in 2019, Brenham has received $5,801,286, up 7.9 percent from the $5,372,839 through this point last year.

Burton received $7,453 in October, a 43 percent increase from last October’s rebate of $5,199.  Through the year so far, Burton has received $69,133, up 13.9 percent from last year’s total of $60,678 at this point.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reports the state paid out $773.1 million in October, up 5.1 percent from last October, and up 5 percent for the year so far.
