CITY OF BRENHAM WARNING AGAINST UNAUTHORIZED UTILITY PAYMENT SITE

  

The City of Brenham is cautioning customers against a website appearing to be one associated with the city’s utility department.

According to a release from the city Wednesday, an online bill pay website by the name of Doxo.com is a third-party website that allows people to pay their electric bills.

However, city officials say Doxo.com may charge extra fees, and the city cannot control when it will receive payment from the site.  This may result in late payment, or even utility disconnection due to non-payment.

To ensure direct payment to the city, go to the official city website, www.cityofbrenham.org.  Anyone who receives suspicious phone calls or emails from someone claiming to represent the City of Brenham should call 979-337-7520.
