DOWNTOWN BRENHAM PREPARING TO HOST CHRISTMAS STROLL, LIGHTED PARADE

Downtown Brenham is getting ready to celebrate the holidays with a slate of activities, including the highly anticipated Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade.

Coming up next Friday and Saturday, downtown Brenham will come alive with holiday spirit with holiday shopping in the Farmers Market and Jingle Bell Market, live music surrounding the courthouse square, dance performances, and Saturday night’s lighting of the courthouse square and lighted parade through downtown.

Events get underway next Friday with the Jingle Bell Market at the Ant Street Inn from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the Farmer and Artisan Market on Baylor Street from 3 to 7 p.m. The Tuba Christmas concert begins at 7 p.m.

Saturday starts with Breakfast with Santa at Must Be Heaven, offering pictures with Santa and kids’ activities. Reservations for the 8 a.m. slot are still available.

Meanwhile the Sip, Shop and Stroll will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at shops throughout downtown, as well as the Jingle Bell Market. New this year is Santa’s Village from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering ornament and cookie decorating, photo booths, Christmas cards, and letters to Santa.

At 5 p.m. Saturday, local Girl Scouts will gather in front of the courthouse to sing Christmas carols and light the Christmas trees.

City of Brenham Community Services Specialist Crystal Locke said she is excited to see what people in the community come up with for the lighted Christmas parade at 6 p.m., which currently has about 60 entries.

The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas Memories on Main”. Following the parade, guests can sit with Santa in Alamo Alley and take a ride on the 1950 Invader Fire Truck.
