MISTRIAL DECLARED IN AGGRAVATED ROBBERY CASE

A judge has declared a mistrial in the case against a Brenham man, accused of committing an aggravated robbery last May.

Jamarcus Andrews
(Washington Co. Jail)

A jury was seated last Tuesday for opening arguments and initial witness testimony in the case of 28-year-old Jamarcus Maurice Andrews.

Andrews is accused of robbing the Dairy Queen on South Market Street at gunpoint on May 31, 2018, making off with about $400 cash.  No one was injured in the incident.

According to Washington County Assistant District Attorney Lauren Haevischer, during the testimony of the state’s third witness last Tuesday, the defense made an objection before the jury.

The jury was dismissed after 21st Judicial District Court Judge Carson Campbell declared the mistrial.  Haevischer could not comment on the grounds for the defense counsel’s motion.

The trial has been reset for July of 2020.
