BELLVILLE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES EDC GRANT FOR NEW RESTAURANT DOWNTOWN
The Bellville City Council has approved a $62,000 grant from the Bellville Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), for a building to be used for a new restaurant on the town square.
The grant request was approved by the council at its meeting last week, on the condition that the owner of the building, Chef Cody Vasek, would back the guaranty amount.
The request was approved unanimously by the BEDC at its meeting earlier this month, but due to the amount of the request, it had to be brought before the city council for final approval.
The funding will be used for structural improvements, electricity and plumbing for the building, located at 22 North Holland Street. The original building was built in 1850, and had past uses as a hardware/tinware and grocery store, a cleaning and pressing business, and the site of the National Hotel.
Vasek plans for the restaurant, to fittingly be named Twenty Two North Holland, to open before April. He plans for it to be open Thursdays through Saturdays, with a Sunday brunch.
