ANNUAL “TREE OF ANGELS” CEREMONY TUESDAY IN DOWNTOWN BRYAN

The 17th Annual Tree of Angels Ceremony takes place tomorrow (Tuesday) in downtown Bryan.

Hosted by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office, the ceremony will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bryan, at 506 East 28th Street.  The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., and will include a reception afterwards.

During the ceremony, victims’ families and friends place an Angel ornament on a Christmas tree, in memory of their loved ones they have lost due to violent crime.

The Tree of Angels began in Austin in 1991 through People Against Violent Crime.  Over the past two decades, Tree of Angels has grown to include most counties in Texas.  Last year, there were 90 Angels placed on the tree during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the tree is moved to the third floor of the Brazos County Courthouse, where it remains throughout the month of December.
