AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR TWO MEN AFTER WEDNESDAY NIGHT CHASE IN FLATONIA
Fayette County authorities continue their search for two men who led them on a Wednesday night chase in Flatonia.
Around 6:15 p.m., Drug Interdiction Sergeant Randy Thumann tried to stop a pickup truck headed eastbound on I-10 near the 669 mile marker for failing to keep a single lane. According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, the truck exited in Flatonia and pulled over on Highway 95, next to the city cemetery.
Sgt. Thumann approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, but the driver sped off, running a red light on Highway 95 and Highway 90. The truck then went over the railroad tracks, striking a parked vehicle. It continued driving approximately two blocks before coming to a stop at South Penn and 5th Streets, as the three occupants fled from the vehicle.
A female passenger, who was not arrested, was taken to St. Mark’s Hospital for neck pain. Two male subjects were not located, after a search of the area.
Assisting at the scene were Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick, along with other Flatonia police officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, DPS troopers, and K-9 Kolt.
