Buccaneers stifle Coastal Bend on the road, 93-54

BEEVILLE, Texas — The Blinn College women’s basketball team (13-3, 2-2) picked up a conference win against Coastal Bend College, 93-54, on Wednesday night.

“We played with great energy and it was a great team win with all 16 players contributing and playing well,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.

Five Buccaneers scored double-digit figures as Gabriela Bosquez led the offense with 20 points and Kristine Ezimako followed with 17. Mariel Wade scored 12, Mia Cherry tallied 11 and Deja Adrian chipped in 10.

Blinn raced to an early 24-13 lead in the opening quarter and led by 20 points (47-27) at halftime. The Buccaneers continued to build their lead to 63-45 in the third quarter and racked up 30 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 39-point win.

Next, the Buccaneers will return home to the Kruse Center to compete against No. 5 Tyler Junior College on Saturday, at 2 p.m. The game can be heard live on AM-1280 KWHI, FM 101.7 and www.kwhi.com.

Buccaneers lose to Trinity Valley on the road, 86-77

ATHENS, Texas — The Blinn College men’s basketball team (12-5, 2-4) suffered a road loss to Trinity Valley Community College, 86-77, on Wednesday night.

“It was a really hard-fought game and our guys competed the whole way, but Trinity Valley had key turnovers that led to easy points,” said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

Markus Vallien and Azariah Seay led Blinn’s offense with 19 points apiece, while Pedro Castro scored 16 and Tristan Ikpe came up with 11.

The Buccaneers outscored Trinity Valley in the first half to lead 39-35 at the break. However, the Cardinals rallied back in the second half to claim the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will return home to the Kruse Center to take on Kilgore College on Saturday, at 4 p.m.  It can be heard live as game-two of a double header with the women's game on AM-1280 KWHI, FM 101.7 and www.kwhi.com.
