WOLF SANCTUARY RELOCATING TO GRIMES CO.
A wolf sanctuary will be moving its operations to Grimes County.
The Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary in Montgomery, a non-profit group that rescues wolves and wolf dogs, has confirmed they are moving to a location that allows them to assist more animals that can’t be released into the wild.
The group has announced they will be moving their sanctuary to rural Grimes County. They will relocate on 15 acres of land, between Navasota and Plantersville, south of Stonham. Co-curator Richard Biggs says the new location is five times larger than their current facility.
Biggs says that will allow the group to increase its maximum capacity from 14 to 48 wolves.
He says many of their animals were owned as private pets, which means a lack of understanding of how to survive in the wild.
Phase one of the new sanctuary has already been funded. They're now raising money to fund Phase two.
