Tuesday night, Brenham ISD hosted an appreciation dinner in honor of local school board members.

Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson encourages the public to take time to thank school board members for their service, their efforts in the community, and their care for students.

Brenham ISD said in a release its school board members are always focused on the success of children in the district, and spend countless hours of unpaid time working to provide students the best possible education.  The district said, while it is making a special effort this month to show appreciation to school board members, their contributions reflect a year-round effort on their part.

Serving on the Brenham ISD school board are Board President Natalie Lange, Board Vice President Melvin Ehlert, Board Secretary Susan Jenkins, and trustees Dr. Michael Altman, Lieutenant Kelvin Raven, Mark Schneider, and Tommie Sullivan.

The Brenham ISD board is responsible for an annual budget of $50 million, 5,000 students, 700 employees, and eight campuses.
