Several local fire departments responded Wednesday afternoon to a fire at an unoccupied home in north Washington County.

The Gay Hill and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Departments were called out just after 2:30 p.m. to the structure fire on Quarry Road, off Highway 36 North.

According to Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Chief Donald Schroeder, firefighters arrived to find a two-story wood-frame home fully involved.  The Berlin, Rocky Creek, and Somerville Volunteer Fire Departments were called for mutual aid.
