HOUSTON PUBLIC MEDIA SPELLING BEE RESCHEDULED DUE TO WATER MAIN BREAK

  

Update @ 1:25 p.m.: Due to a major water main break in Houston, tomorrow's (Saturday) Houston Public Media Spelling Bee has been rescheduled.

Initially scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the Baylor College of Medicine Academy at James D. Ryan Middle School, the bee has now been moved to next Saturday, March 7th at 1:30 p.m.  The bee will be held inside the Houston Public Media Studios at 4343 Elgin Street.

Original Story @ 9:41 a.m.: A pair of College Station ISD students will represent the Brazos Valley this weekend in Houston at the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee.

Sammy Shankar, an 8th grader at A&M Consolidated Middle School, and Kelly Ding, a 7th grader at College Station Middle School, will compete tomorrow (Saturday) at the bee, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Baylor College of Medicine Academy at James D. Ryan Middle School.

Shankar and Ding were the winners of the Zone IX Region Spelling Bee February 8th, hosted by Rudder High School in Bryan.

The top two spellers of tomorrow’s spelling bee will head to Washington, D.C. for the 93rd Scripps National Spelling Bee May 25th to the 28th, where they will compete for the national championship.
