COLLEGE STATION STUDENTS COMPETING IN HOUSTON AREA SPELLING BEE SATURDAY
Two College Station ISD students will represent the Brazos Valley this weekend in Houston at the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee.
Sammy Shankar, an 8th grader at A&M Consolidated Middle School, and Kelly Ding, a 7th grader at College Station Middle School, will compete tomorrow (Saturday) at the bee, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. inside the Houston Public Media Studios at 4343 Elgin Street.
The bee was initially scheduled for last Saturday at James D. Ryan Middle School, but was moved due to a major water main break causing several school closures.
Shankar and Ding were the winners of the Zone IX Region Spelling Bee February 8th, hosted by Rudder High School in Bryan.
The top two spellers of tomorrow’s spelling bee will head to Washington, D.C. for the 93rd Scripps National Spelling Bee May 25th to the 28th, where they will compete for the national championship.
