Matthew Pfeifer recently started his position as a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent for DAR.  In his role, he will serve Washington, Austin, Fayette, and Colorado Counties, with an office in Brenham.

Pfeifer’s responsibilities in his four-county region will consist of helping to mitigate disasters through outreach and awareness.

According to a release, the program is a new effort to help communities in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.  It is not meant to replace local emergency management coordinators and district coordinators of the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), but to assist them as needed.

Pfeifer was a ten-year member of Calhoun County 4-H, later going on to graduate from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a bachelor’s degree, and Texas A&M University with a master’s degree.  He was most recently employed by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), where he worked as a research associate.

To contact Pfeifer, call 979-277-6212, or email matthew.pfeifer@ag.tamu.edu.
