SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICES CLOSED, SERVICES STILL OFFERED ONLINE

  

All local Social Security offices, including Brenham’s office at 2901 Victory Lane, are now closed to the public for in-person service.

Social Security administrators say the decision was made to protect the population it serves—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—as well as employees, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, services will remain available online at www.socialsecurity.gov, while local offices will continue to provide critical services over the phone.

Social Security officials say they are working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local governments, and other experts to monitor COVID-19, and will let the public know as soon as in-person services can continue.
