WASHINGTON CO. DISTRICT CLERK SUSPENDING PASSPORT APPLICATIONS
The Washington County District Clerk’s Office will temporarily suspend the acceptance of passport applications.
In a notice posted on the doors of the Washington County Courthouse, U.S. passport applications will not be accepted through the remainder of March and the month of April, in response to requests for social distancing and for the safety of employees and staff in connection with COVID-19.
The District Clerk’s Office does not believe this action will adversely affect the public, with the current travel warnings and restrictions in place.
The office says it is their understanding that temporary acceptance facility closures will not be posted on the national passport website, https://travel.state.gov. However, for more information concerning location of available acceptance facilities, the public can call 1-877-487-2778.
The Washington County Courthouse is still open to the public, but County Judge John Durrenberger said Wednesday as contingency plans are enacted in response to COVID-19, access to the courthouse could be limited in the coming days and weeks.
