INCREASE IN SALES TAX ALLOCATIONS FOR BRENHAM, BURTON, DECREASE FOR WASHINGTON CO.

  

May’s sales and tax distributions were up slightly for both Brenham and Burton, but down for Washington County altogether.

Washington County’s rebate this month was $255,450, down 4.02 percent from last May’s payment of $266,169.  So far in 2020, the county has received $1,249,513, a 5.74 percent decrease from the $1,325,628 it received through this point last year.

Brenham received $605,326 in May, up 0.39 percent from last May, when the city received $602,965.  This year, the city has received $2,830,136, just 0.01 percent down from its payment to date last year of $2,830,646.

May’s rebate for Burton was $7,397, compared to the $7,167 it received last May, a 3.21 percent increase.  To date, the city has received $34,903, down 0.78 percent from last year’s $35,179 received at this point.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported, for the month of May, the state paid out $824.1 million, down 5 percent from last May, but still up 3.2 percent for the year so far.
