BRENHAM RECYCLING CENTER CLOSING SATURDAY
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day of operation for the Brenham Recycling Center in downtown Brenham.
Following the end of regular business hours tomorrow, the facility, located at 307 South Market Street, will no longer take recyclables. The center is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After the facility is closed, recycling will only be taken at the Citizens Collection Station at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road, as part of the City of Brenham’s new sanitation agreement with Brannon Industrial Group (BIG).
As for the property the recycling center is located on, Public Works Director Dane Rau said the city will consider all options, and will visit with the city council to see how the property will “benefit the downtown area in the best way”.
Rau said there are no set plans right now for the property, but the city will first have to complete several weeks of organizing and cleaning up the site before beginning to look at potential options.
