CITY OF BRENHAM TO BEGIN RECONSTRUCTION OF McNEESE STREET MONDAY

The City of Brenham Street Department will begin reconstruction Monday on McNeese Street.

Reconstruction on the street, starting at North Park Street and running to the end of the roadway, will last for approximately two weeks, and will be done in phases throughout this time period.

The reconstruction process will involve tilling up the current roadway, grading the sub-base, and adding bulk cement to stabilize the sub-base.  After applying cement, crews will add a two-inch asphalt layer to the new roadbed, which should improve the surface of the street for several years.

During the time of construction, and during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., this section of roadway will be limited to vehicular traffic throughout the work zones.  City staff will work with residents to get access to homes throughout this process.

Residents should expect dusty conditions at times, especially as cement is added to the roadway.  They are asked to park their cars in driveways or off the roadways between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and turn off their sprinkler systems if they have any.
