COLLEGE STATION TO REQUIRE FACE MASKS BEGINNING MONDAY
Beginning Monday people in College Station will be required to use a face mask in all businesses.
The city of College Station has passed an order requiring the use of face masks in all businesses that goes into effect Monday at 6:00 a.m. That order will continue until Friday, July 10th.
Under the order, businesses and establishments that violate the order can be fined up to $1,000 per day. No civil or criminal penalty will be imposed on individuals for failure to wear a face-covering. And, all persons 10 years or older must wear a face covering when in a public place where it is difficult to keep six feet away from other people or working in areas that involve close proximity with coworkers.
Facemasks will not be required when exercising outside or engaging in physical activity outside; When driving alone or with passengers who are part of the same household as the driver; or when consuming food or drink.
Brazos County Judge Duane Peters said Monday he didn’t a county-wide mandate would be necessary.
We need a mask order in Brenham and Washington County. We must all work together to stop the spread of this disease. Why are the officials objecting so much to protecting members of the community? A mask does not cost the County any money and, with handwashing, is our only means to stay safe and stop the spread of this horrific disease.
Wake up Brenham Mayor & Judge. Our neighbors are doing the right thing. Aren’t u concerned for yourselves due to your ages? Get with it & implement the MANDATORY MASK. Its proven to help!
Lord we need new leadership in this town. Many many folks have complied w/what our Governor has put in effect. But if a handful comply we will be back starting over & why do the leaders here not figure this out. I bet if they had children in school, or elder family to care for they’d be singing a different tune. We can’t live with this leadership that fears non reelection because that’s what this is all about.
Do you not understand that everyone is going to get covid-19, wake up and see the truth for once.
Agreed! Actions predicated by fear will not be blessed. Darkness will come to light. Sin conceived ends in death.
Please explain how it has been proven to help ?
You shouldn’t need the mayor or judge to tell you what to do… If you want to wear a mask, wear a mask. If you do not, then do not. Its not something that needs to be controlled by the government.. Wearing a mask is completely up to the individual.
Amen and seconded Our Neighbor. The two major items which have supported this community are shaky right now. Blinn College May soon follow in A & M ‘s footsteps and drop SAT scores Requirement to boost admissions. This retirement community town may lose much of its appeal if it refuses to protect seniors. Our local newspaper is 3 days a week now, not 6 or 5. Will it last forever? No. But reputations once hit, seldom recover. Maybe officials will surprise us and step up with regulations, But if they are not enforced and examples made, what good would they be? Short term pain, long term gain should have been in practice in April and we would not have this current issue. And it could be we have far more cases than posted, because tests are expensive and we have far to many uninsured.
Blinn college has never required an SAT score, and the ACT that they used to prefer and require, was dropped probably more than 20 years ago. Blinn college is an open admissions school; anyone with the money can enter, and if they are lacking skills, the college will provide remedial courses in reading, writing, and arithmetic so that their functionality is up to the par of a high schooler.
And yes, they are always looking for warm bodies to contribute to the coffers of the college. If they were more honest, they would let the public know the numerous drug offenses that occur every week on campus when school is in session, but older people would really start to worry and would not be as supportive.
Agree
No. It is about common sense and not losing one’s rational thought when another reported case of Covid-19 is confirmed.
More cases will be confirmed because more people are being tested.
Masks are only moderately effective and new reports say you can still get the virus while wearing a mask, because it is a very contagious and mild virus for most people.
We will get a vaccine or something of herd immunity before long.
Stay safe, stay positive, get some fresh air and exercise.
This to will pass.
