REOPENING OF BRENHAM MUNICIPAL AIRPORT RUNWAY RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY
The runway at the Brenham Municipal Airport will not be able to partially reopen today (Saturday) as initially planned.

Development Services Director Stephanie Doland told city staff in an email Friday afternoon that due to a contractor delay, the partial re-opening is now scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. She said staff are working with the contractor to get the runway re-opened as quickly as possible.
The runway was closed on Wednesday to allow crews to install the partially closed stripping and lights for the hump/bump repair on the north end of the runway. The hump/bump has been a safety hazard and has previously been repaired, only to come back.
The shortened runway (4380 ft. vs. 6003 ft.) will be reopened during the project and then closed again when it is completed to allow crews to safely remove the markings and lights.
The repair project was scheduled to take place during the winter months, but delays at TxDOT put the project off until now. The project is expected to be completed August 21st.
