EMBANKMENT ROAD BETWEEN LAKE SOMERVILLE MARINA, WELCH PARK CLOSED
CLOSURE TO LAST APPROXIMATELY TEN WEEKS
The main embankment road between Lake Somerville Marina and Campground and Welch Park has been temporarily closed for repairs.
Monday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed LBJ Drive from the start of the guardrail near the marina to the entrance by Welch Park.
Corps officials said the closure, which will last approximately ten weeks, is due to safety concerns caused by visitors parking along the roadway at the outlet works parking lot. The north embankment road used for walking remains closed.
The closure will allow for repairs to be made safely to the guardrail that was previously damaged. As repairs are completed in phases, portions of the area could be opened sooner.
