BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD NAMES DR. TYLOR CHAPLIN LONE FINALIST FOR SUPERINTENDENT
The Brenham School Board has named a lone finalist for the position of school district superintendent.
Dr. Tylor Chaplin was named as the finalist during a special meeting of the board this (Tuesday) evening. Dr. Chaplin comes from Burkburnett, north of Wichita Falls, where he has served as Burkburnett ISD superintendent since 2016. He has 25 years of experience in public education, serving as teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent.
Dr. Chaplin, the 24th superintendent in Brenham ISD’s history, says he is excited and humbled to join the school district’s “tradition of excellence”.
Dr. Chaplin says safety is paramount amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, so his priority is to ensure that buildings, students, and staff are safe when classes resume in the fall.
Dr. Chaplin says the bar set by previous superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson was very high, but he is looking forward to building upon the current foundation and working to meet the needs of Brenham ISD’s students and families, along with the Brenham community as a whole.
Dr. Chaplin has previously been honored with the 2020 Burkburnett Masonic Lodge Community Builder Award, recognized by the Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce as the 2019 Citizen of the year, and named as a Top 5 Finalist for Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Superintendent of the Year in 2019.
State law requires that the Brenham School Board wait 21 days before officially voting to hire Dr. Chaplin as superintendent.

Fantastic work school board members! This is great news!
Welcome…..now where do we find out about the financial end ..
Would like to know what the tax payers of Washington County are going to pay this man.
Every property owner I am sure would like yo know !
I think you would be perturbed to know what this man is going to be making. Upon learning the name of the new superintendent, I looked up the Burkburnett Isd web page and they actually have listed the copy of the superintendent’s contract. At Burkburnett he was making $189,000 per year with AN ADDITIONAL $1079 per month for insurance (wish they would pay MY insurance costs) AND the district was picking up 100% of the amount to TRS deducted from his check. You can bet he isn’t coming to Brenham for less! It will be interesting to see his contract with Brenham ISD. I sincerely hope that KWHI will obtain a copy for the citizens of Brenham.
If all you complaining would like to do the job, then by all means, apply next time it’s open!! Nice to know that someone in charge of our school district and the education of our kids shouldn’t be paid well because you say so. You people are ridiculous…..Welcome to Brenham Dr.Chaplin
My grandfather always said you get what you pay for
We’ve been penny pinching with the education of our children long enough
