LAREDO BROTHERS ARRESTED IN FAYETTE CO. AFTER THROWING AR-15s FROM VEHICLE DURING PURSUIT

  

Two brothers from Laredo were arrested Wednesday morning after leading Fayette County authorities on a chase, during which they threw a pair of rifles from their vehicle.

Around 10 a.m., Fayette County Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith stopped a 2020 Kia traveling westbound on I-10 near Flatonia for a traffic violation.  As Smith approached the vehicle, it sped off, and a pursuit ensued.

After exiting in Flatonia on the westbound feeder road, the vehicle drove into a field, where the suspects threw two AR-15 rifles from the vehicle.  The pursuit continued westbound back onto I-10 and stopped at the 661 mile marker.

25-year-old Peter Cabrera, Jr. and 17-year-old Luis Jerry Cabrera were taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center, where they were charged with Evading Arrest and Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Assisting Smith in the pursuit were Fayette County Drug Interdiction Sergeant Randy Thumann, Traffic Enforcement Deputy Rick Bohlmann, Deputy Ken Kretz, and Flatonia Police Officer Cody George.
