2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON KICKS OFF

 

After months of uncertainty the 2020 high school football season kicks off tonight across Tesxas for teams from 1A to 4A.

Team in the 5A and 6A classifications will begin their seasons in late September.

The Burton Panthers will get things started on the road at Holland at 7:30.

Panthers’ head coach Jason Hodde says it’s exciting to put everything from the past six months behind them and play some football…

 

The Panthers look to continue their string of playoff appearances with a relatively young squad, with just four seniors returning from the 2019 squad.  Hodde says a lot is expected from the senior class…

 

The Panthers and Hornets will kick off in Holland at 7:30, with the pregame show set for 7:00 on KWHI AM 1280, FM 101.7 and www.kwhi.com.  Doug Brown and Darrell Kieke will have the call.

Meanwhile, in Caldwell, the Snook Bluejays will face the Hornets to open the new campaign.

Bluejays’ head coach Boone Patterson says it feels great to get back on the field and get the season started…

 

The Bellville Brahmas hit the road to face familiar foe Giddings in the opener.

Brahmas’ head coach Grady Rowe says it’ll be fun to open the season against a long-time rival…

Iola has canceled their varsity football games against Thrall, tonight and next week against Normangee.

Iola ISD Athletic Director Kerry Bamberg announced Thursday that they have had positive COVID-19 cases in the high school and have shut down in person learning and are going on-line through September 8th.
